irthdays mean new
beginnings, a
chance to reminisce
and, of course, to celebrate.
This year marks the 70th since
American Craft
magazine
began life as a simple,
unnamed newsletter - reason
enough to get out the party
hats and sparklers! But since
we have lots to celebrate -
including a lively and
enthusiastic new staff and a
fabulous, funky new home
in a historic Minneapolis
b re w e ry-w e ’ re going to call
20 11 our 70th rebirth day.
After all, the little spark of
an idea that became the
American Craft Council and
helped ignite the modern craft
movement glimmered for two
years before our formal
incorporation in 1943. So we
honor our past, rejoice in the
present and raise a glass to
our future for the next 70 years
and beyond.
Happy Rebirth Day
To get the festivities going,
we’ve invited local cake
designers to design a cake
(or cupcakes) inspired by one
of our amazing ACC artists’
handmade works of jewelry,
pottery, glass, fiber art, or
multi-media masterpieces.
Please enjoy these amazing
Craft-Inspired Cakes, which
will be on display in the
ACC booth for the duration of
the show.
